The fact is, attractive younger women will get up to four times as many messages as the “average” woman, and as much as 25 times the amount of messages as a woman who’s not good looking at all.

There’s a similar phenomenon with women who are over the age of thirty. If you’re a man under thirty, you’re probably missing a huge amount of potential in the over-thirty crowd. Strangely enough, as a man gets older and older he’s likely to search for a relatively younger woman. A thirty-one year-old man might set his search range on the online dating site from twenty-one to thirty-three -– ten years younger than himself but only two years older. As a man gets older, that scale slides even further.

Women, on the other hand, are more open minded. They tend to have preferences more equal with their own age in the center of the age continuum. And by the time she hits the age of twenty-nine, a woman will often start looking for older men and avoiding men of her own age. Later on, it shifts back down, creating that sweet spot where “cougars” are looking for guys in their twenties or thirties.

Why date a cougar?

• Cougars have attitude. Just ask Bridget Jones or Samantha from Sex in the City. They have a strong sense of self, and that confidence is hot.
• Cougars know their way around. Where? Everywhere, from hot dating spots to the latest social events, cougars know where the action is at. And they know their way around your hot spots.

• Be Yourself: You can’t pull one past a cougar, so just be yourself. She’ll want to date you because of you, and you offer her a sense of fun and spontaneity.
• Be Creative: Although she’s been around the block, try to do something new with her.
• Be Confident and Intelligent: This is an important combination! She won’t want to waste her time, and when you arewith her, keep her on her toes by maintaining stimulating conversation.
